A year ago today we "locked down" our Abigail's file with the request to adopt her. At that time, we did not know that the happy girl we saw in the photo below was in a hospital struck by some sort of stroke of the spinal cord that had left her paralyzed from the waist down. We saw a healthy five year old that had some minor care needs - perhaps only some speech therapy for her repaired cleft palate. We are so grateful to God that we did NOT see the reality of her condition, because sadly we most likely would have thought that her care needs were beyond our ability to care for. And we would have missed the greatest blessing the LORD has ever given us! On May 11, 2009 she became our daughter in our hearts and minds. And the Father used that time of waiting to go get her to prepare us for what is now our daily life.
That same happy healthy girl we saw in the referral picture now lives in our home. Sure there are challenging times. And the LORD has proved Himself faithful in all areas. Our faith was so small. How grateful we are to call her our Abby!
