Gotcha Day and Adoption Finalized!

Monday was the day we met Abigail.

Monte's description seems appropriate - there was much weeping and gnashing of teeth as we left the meeting place. She was excited and received us well while her nannies were there. We've decided that the set up at the Civil Affairs office is not the best venue for meeting. As children see other children get upset it is like a chain reaction. Our Abigail didn't get upset until we were leaving the building. It broke our hearts to see her's breaking at the loss of her nannies - who obviously loved her very much. Once in our hotel room, it wasn't long until Veggie Tales Silly Songs dvd had her calmed down and even liking us again!

We also found that she loved the Signing Times dvds that Heather bought us! She has already begun picking up many signs and English words...she's one smart cookie :) Today we had to return to the Civil Affairs office to finalize the adoption. They asked the question - are you satisfied with this child? YES, of course...no no doubt about it! Two busy days down...a little more relaxing tomorrow - sightseeing around Abigail's hometown.

One last thing, thank you for your prayers and please continue to pray for the 3 of us. Especially for Abigail - it seems that she is afraid to sleep. She woke many times last night whimpering, and today at nap time she began to cry.

Thank you!

Praise the Lord!!!!!!!! Oh she is adorable! I will be praying for sleep times and a special peace during that time. I know with both of our China girls sleep was when they really grieved. They were tired, their defenses were down and they just finally let it all out. If you can just hold her and let her know that her emotions are good and that she is loved and safe, even when she is grieving.
She has the most stunning smile!!! SO glad that you posted! Praying for you guys!

Oh please know that I am praying for sweet Abigail and all that she needs to begin to fall in love with both of you. I am praying for peace in her sweet little heart to be able to leave the people she has come to know and love. I know that Gods hands are upon her and you both and He will comfort her and give her rest. Our Emma Jane woke up crying during the night for over a year....my social worker said it to me best...."It is how she is dealing with her grief and it is healthy and she doesn't remember when she wakes up". It is so very hard to see their little hearts so sad. God bless all three of you.

Yes, a STUNNING smile! So thankful as well to see this post!

I KNOW God is able to move mountains and He did it for us while in China. Praying alongside you that He continues to make your path straight and clear, and that any obstacles will be removed before you even encounter them.

Ditto what Shannon and TBN said on sleep. It will come. It took S a full year to quit the nighttime grieving and sometimes it still comes up, just not every night anymore.
